Workshops are held at Casa da Cabaza, in Galicia, north-western Spain, located mid-way between the towns Monforte de Lemos and Sarria, and mid-way between the cities Lugo and Ourense. The nearest airports are in Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña, approx 1.5 hours away.

Private car or taxi pick-up will be available from Santiago airport on the afternoon before the start date. This is an additional cost from €40 each way, per person, depending on the number of people sharing. There are various train or bus services, and car rental can be booked at the airports. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need assistance with regional travel arrangements.

Workshop schedules are not rigid and can be adapted to suit requirements. A daily schedule will generally include

  • 6 - 8 workshop hours

  • breakfast, lunch and dinner

  • time to rest, reflect and do your own thing

A weekly schedule may look like

  • arrival day: introductions, tour of the location , discussion of weekly programme, evening meal together

  • workshop days 1-3: morning session; lunch break & rest; afternoon session; free time; evening meal

  • departure day: breakfast & departure

  • photographic equipment, whether an iPhone or the latest DSLR plus lenses. All that is necessary is that you know how to use your camera sufficiently so that it becomes an aid to creativity rather than a distraction.

  • a laptop for viewing and editing your work. If you do not have this, we can provide a shared workstation for you.

  • suitable work clothes and outdoor clothes, including a light rain jacket and a warm fleece or similar as there can be cooler, rainy days even in summer. Outdoor, waterproof walking shoes will be needed as well as light footwear for use in the guest rooms and indoor areas.
